Emily has worked in the publishing industry for over a decade, producing hundreds of books. She has published award-winning and bestselling books across genres for traditional publishers, self-publishing firms, and individual authors at all levels–from New York Times bestsellers to first-time authors and everyone in between.

Emily was the Deputy Director and subsequently the Publishing Director of the Ohio Writers’ Association, a position she held until 2021. She currently owns a multi-imprint publishing and marketing company. 

Emily loves independent literature, and she believes that small publishers produce some of the best books on the planet. Her wealth of experience and fierce education have fueled the growth of the Boyle & Dalton catalog.

Heather Shaw is an award-winning writer, editor, writing coach, NYT crossword puzzle enthusiast, and publishing consultant. As a senior developmental editor, she possesses an expert ability to pull the best work from authors. As an acquisitions editor, she evaluates manuscripts for publication, seeing through the first draft and into the future of what a book can become with the right editorial guidance.

Heather is a Think Write Publish Science & Religion Fellow, recipient of the Award of Excellence from the Columbus Arts Council, and previously taught a memoir writing workshop through a local university. Her own writing has appeared in publications including Best of Ohio Short Stories, Best of Vine Leaves Literary Journal, and Midland (Simon & Schuster).

Senior Project Manager

Clair Fink holds dual degrees in graphic design and digital media technology. Her attention to detail, eye for art direction, and unrivaled email response time make her the most-thanked person in the acknowledgments section of books. Clair shepherds each of our authors through our five-step publishing process with patience, kindness, and a high-level understanding of the publishing production process.

Clair is especially passionate about the design process, and she helps develop, articulate, and communicate cover design vision to our team of designers and artists. 

Clair is an artist who has illustrated two children’s books; she is an avid reader of anything that pleasantly surprises her; and she loves researching current design trends in book design and beyond. She shares a house with her dog Benny who is the Boyle & Dalton company mascot.
